27 (8:30 to 11:30 am) 9th and Hazel Neighborhood Park - Meet at intersection of West 9th Street and Hazel Street, next to Little Chico Creek. We will remove invasive plants, pick up trash, fix irrigation, & spread wood chips. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Bring water and work gloves if you can. For more information, call Heidi at 530 526 5000. Sponsored by Kids and Creeks, Klean Kanteen and the City of Chico's Park Division. Rain cancels. (8 AM- Noon) National Trails Day! Come out and celebrate National Trails Day in Upper Bidwell Park. Meet at the Monkey Face Parking (Parking Lot E Map ). It will be a short hike to the worksite. Parking is limited so ride your bike or carpool if possible.  Please wear closed toe shoes, long pants and bring gloves if possible. Bring water and snacks. Updates will be posted on the Trailworks Face Book page. You can register at Trail Day.   Please call Thad Walker, 828-553-7083, if you have any questions or need directions to the site. Sponsored by Chico Velo Trailworks and the City of Chico Park Division.

(9 am to 12:30 pm) Block Party with a Purpose Work with neighborhood and community volunteers to pick up trash, prune overgrown vegetation and remove invasive plants from Lindo Channel. Sponsored by Butte Environmental Council and the City of Chico. More information to follow closer to event date.

Volunteers provide a snapshot of the health of the creek by collecting water quality data at ten different sites during each event. Training is provided. 4 Independence Day 5K Run/Fun Walk in Lower Bidwell Park. Starts at 7 am at One Mile Map , entry fee $25 (includes t-shirt and breakfast). See 5K for details and registration options. Sponsored by Chico Running Club and CARD.

Annual Polar Bear Swim across Lower Bidwell Park's Sycamore Pool Map starting at 1 pm.  This is a no-host event--you just show up at the appropriate time. Even if you don't want to brave the chilly waters, this is a fun park event to attend and you're sure to see some of your neighbors and friends!
